  • When the pulled pork is done, it should shred very easily with two forks.

Pulled Pork in a Slow Cooker FAQs

Can you cook pulled pork too long in slow cooker?

Although it is difficult to overcook pulled pork, it can become too soft if cooked for too long past the recommended cook time. Pulled pork is ready to enjoy after a little under 5 hours on High heat in the slow cooker; however, as long as you don't shred it until you serve it, you can safely leave it cooking overnight on Low heat. If you cook on Low overnight, I recommend leaving it to cook in the slow cooker for about 10 hours.

Does pulled pork in slow cooker need liquid?

Pulled pork does need liquid to cook properly in the slow cooker. Without liquid it may burn and dry out. Additionally, the extra liquid adds more flavor!

What is the best liquid to cook pulled pork in?

I recommend cooking pulled pork in a mixture of BBQ sauce and beef broth. This thins out the BBQ sauce to fully coat the pork and makes it into the perfect braising liquid for the pork. Use your favorite BBQ sauce in the mixture.
