Best Glaze for Ham

One of the great things about making ham is that you can mix and match the glaze to your favorite cooking method! Be it baked ham glaze recipes or one fit for the air fryer, there are so many great glazes to try- and they're all so easy!

Glazed Ham Tips

  • Making a big dinner means a whole lot of sides, so plan ahead and pick a ham recipe accordingly! If you're planning on baking casseroles or vegetables, try a ham recipe that doesn't use the oven.
  • Virtually all types of ham will work for any of these recipes, whether you have a spiral cut, boneless, bone-in, or even raw ham, with adjusted cooking times.
  • Make sure to save the bone if you're using a bone-in ham! Store it in the freezer to use for incredible pork bone stock that will make any soup or gravy showstopping.
  • Remember to always glaze ham liberally! The most common issue with ham is it drying out, and keeping it well glazed will make sure that's never a problem.

Glazed Ham Recipes FAQs

What is the best way to cook a precooked ham?

The great thing about ham is that no matter how you cook it, it will turn out delicious. A better question to ask is what appliances you'll need for sides, and plan your ham around that! I love using the air fryer or pressure cooker when I need the ham done quick, or the oven when I'm using the air fryer for sides.

What ham is best for Easter?

The best Easter ham is the ham your family will personally love the most, but if you want to serve up something extra fancy, try Pineapple ham! With a tangy pineapple glaze and a decorative covering of pineapple rounds, this ham looks beautiful on the table and tastes even better.

How can I make my ham more flavorful?

Flavorful ham is all about the glaze. Use lots of glaze with bold flavors like maple, bourbon, pineapple and sriracha to add tons of flavor to your ham, and make sure to add more glaze as it cooks, as well as between each slice of meat!

  • Use the leftover ham bone for Ham Bone Recipes

One of the best things about ham is that there's always enough for leftovers! Recipes with leftover ham are some of my favorites ever. I won't lie, I've made glazed ham before just for the leftovers!

My tip: Save the ham bone, and boil it with 12 cups of water, carrots, onion, celery and a bay leaf for homemade ham stock! Use it in any of the soups listed above for an unforgettably delicious dinner.
